The Three Catastrophes of the Starfall Pavilion — Reduced to Dust by a Battle of the Emperors

Throughout its existence, Starfall Pavilion (星陨阁) stood as a beacon of strength and resilience in the turbulent world of Dou Qi. Yet despite the years of painstaking construction and the valiant efforts of its protectors, this great stronghold faced not one, but three catastrophic events that nearly or completely razed it to the ground. The last of these disasters—an epic clash between mighty Dou Emperors—left it shattered into nothing more than drifting dust, even destroying the legendary meteorite used to forge the Heavy Xuan Ruler.

For Mu Qingluan, the one who spent over a decade building Starfall Pavilion brick by brick, the final destruction was a moment of crushing heartbreak. Her tears fell without restraint as the dream she poured her heart into crumbled before her eyes—literally pulverized by a Dou Emperor’s devastating might.

Let us take a look back at the three times this once-formidable structure was laid to waste.

The First Catastrophe: Ambushed During Yao Lao’s Absence

The first calamity befell Starfall Pavilion during a period of internal vulnerability—when Yao Lao, the Pill King and core pillar of strength, had secluded himself in closed-door cultivation. This period of apparent weakness did not go unnoticed. Upon hearing that Xiao Yan was still alive, Old Ghost Zhaixing quickly passed the information on to the Hall of Souls (魂殿).

The response was swift and ruthless. With the Hall of Souls’ leader’s consent, three Heavenly Venerates—backed by an overwhelming force of elite soul cultivators—descended upon Starfall Pavilion with the intent to annihilate. The battle was brutal. Despite fierce resistance from the defenders, the sheer power of the invaders left large sections of the pavilion in ruins. This marked the first time Starfall Pavilion tasted the bitter sting of near-total destruction.

The Second Calamity: During Xiao Yan’s Breakthrough

The second time Starfall Pavilion found itself teetering on the edge of obliteration was when Xiao Yan himself entered secluded cultivation, aiming to break through to the Dou Sheng (Battle Saint) realm. With Xiao Yan absent, leadership and defense fell upon the shoulders of Yao Lao, Medusa, and Little Doctor Immortal.

As if history were repeating itself, the Hall of Souls once again launched an invasion, sending three Semi-Saints and a formidable force to crush the pavilion. Yao Lao put up a legendary fight, even managing to take on two Heavenly Venerates and the notorious Old Demon Tianming single-handedly for a while. But without the aid of his Heavenly Flame, his strength waned over time.

Meanwhile, Medusa and the Little Doctor Immortal were left battered and bloodied, their energies depleted, their defenses failing. It seemed inevitable that Starfall Pavilion would fall. But just as hope dimmed—Xiao Yan made his dramatic return.

Breaking through to Dou Sheng at the most critical moment, Xiao Yan unleashed a brand-new, earth-shattering technique of his own creation: Buddha’s Wrath Reincarnation (佛怒轮回). In a single fiery moment, he struck down two Heavenly Venerates and even obliterated Old Demon Tianming in the blink of an eye.

Yet, the sheer power of the technique came with collateral damage. Despite the protective barrier powered by the energy of the Star Realm, the surrounding buildings could not withstand the explosive force. Starfall Pavilion once again bore the brunt of the battle, with large portions reduced to rubble.

Mu Qingluan, the ever-dedicated builder and protector of the Pavilion, was devastated. Clutching her large hammer, she fumed at the recurring destruction. “Can’t they fight somewhere else for once? Why must this place be a battlefield every time?” she lamented.

Her frustration was shared by many—but peace did return afterward, lasting five or six precious years. Starfall Pavilion enjoyed a rare period of calm, slowly rebuilding itself from the damage and dreaming, perhaps naively, of stability.

The Final Destruction: Obliterated in the Battle of Emperors

Sadly, that peace was short-lived. The third and final catastrophe was one the Pavilion could never recover from.

This time, the enemy was none other than Hun Tiandi (魂天帝)—the most powerful figure in the Hall of Souls. Leading an army of Soul Clan elites, Hun Tiandi launched a full-scale assault on the region. By then, Starfall Pavilion had been renamed to the Heavenly Court Alliance (天府联盟), though its geographical location remained unchanged.

As Hun Tiandi’s army approached, an epic showdown of Dou Emperors commenced above the skies of the Pavilion. Xiao Yan, now one of the few people capable of standing toe-to-toe with Hun Tiandi, took to the air with the mighty Ancient Ruler formed by fusing Heavenly Flames—the Ancient Ruler of Eternal Fire.

The battle was a clash of titans. Heaven and earth trembled. The skies turned pitch black as space itself was torn apart. The energy ripples from the collision of Xiao Yan’s Ancient Flame Ruler and Hun Tiandi’s Slaying Emperor Blade created an explosion so massive, even the heavens might have wept.

From a distance, Mu Qingluan could only cower and tremble. As a Dou Zong, she knew that even a minor brush with this energy would mean instant annihilation. And then—a blinding light, a deafening blast, and silence.

When she regained consciousness, the place where Starfall Pavilion once stood… was gone. Not a single brick remained. The once-proud symbol of the pavilion—the Celestial Meteorite, used to forge the Heavy Xuan Ruler—had been shattered into fine powder.

Mu Qingluan stood frozen in disbelief. Her hammer slipped from her hand and crashed to the ground. Her shoulders slumped with exhaustion and sorrow. “It’s over,” she whispered. “There’s nothing left. This land is cursed.”

At that moment, she made her decision—to leave the Central Plains. Too much blood had been spilled, too many dreams shattered. The beast domain, though wild, suddenly seemed like a much safer place.

The Legacy of Starfall Pavilion

Though Starfall Pavilion no longer exists in form, its legacy endures in the memories of those who fought and lived there. It was a place of hope, resilience, and courage. Each time it fell, it rose again—until the last, unavoidable fall.

It became more than a stronghold. It was the stage of unforgettable battles, the home of powerful alliances, and the foundation from which Xiao Yan and his allies fought to protect the continent.

For Mu Qingluan, it was a labor of love—a decade of sweat and dreams now scattered to the wind. But perhaps, even in dust, Starfall Pavilion serves as a reminder: In a world of chaos and conflict, what we build with our hands can be destroyed—but the spirit behind it lives on.
